We are hoping you could donate at least 2 hours of your time to help with some of the following tasks:

Cut Watermelon

Coordinate Watermelon Bowling

OBX Watermelon Festival is free for guests to attend; however, the purchase of tickets is required to play and eat! Compete in classic competitions to win from a selection of awesome prizes.

Stop by and share in this summertime tradition. Bring the family for a day of summertime fun and help support the Outer Banks Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Coalition, a valuable community organization working to improve safety in the Outer Banks.

Gutter cleaning, window washing, power washing (must be done by a professional company that is insured and bonded), bush trimming, and yard work

Please join the Outer Banks Relief Foundation for a Beach Clean Up at Glenmere Avenue Beach Access. This beach cleanup is part of the 2nd Annual Outer Banks Volunteer Week, offering several opportunities for visitors, residents and second homeowners to connect more deeply with the community by volunteering with local organizations on a variety of projects and events. Very special thanks to the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau for hosting Outer Banks Volunteer Week once again! We are also grateful to Surfrider Foundation, Outer Banks Chapter for the ongoing opportunity to be a part of their impactful work, and to the Dare County Library for providing supplies. We hope to see you there!   

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by helping with cleaning, light landscaping, interior painting (must have experience) and truck washing. All supplies and materials will be provided by the Food Bank. While most of these jobs don't require experience, the painting job will require someone who has painting experience

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by creating packets of information. All materials will be provided by AAUW. 

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support a local nonprofit by helping wash windows and assist with painting two porches. All supplies and materials will be provided by Just Girls. While previous painting or window-washing experience is appreciated, it is not required—just bring a willingness to help and make a difference in the community!

Seeking a professional carpet cleaning company to clean lobby and hallway-must be bonded and insured.

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by helping to clean and freshen up some areas and to work on the playground area. All supplies and materials will be provided by Success academy. No experience is required-just bring a willingness to help and make a difference in the community!

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by helping with some gardening. All supplies and materials will be provided by Catholic Charities, however, please bring your own garden gloves (if desired). No experience is required—just bring a willingness to help and make a difference in the community!

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by helping to organize the  office and cabinets, take inventory and clean walls and doors. All supplies and materials will be provided by AAFCA. No experience is required—just bring a willingness to help and make a difference in the community!

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by helping to install hooks for bookbags into the walls and do other light construction jobs. All supplies and materials will be provided by the Boys and Girls Clubs. On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by helping with the painting and pressure washing of several camp buildings, and the repair of picnic tables and a bridge. All supplies and materials will be provided by the Scouts. On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by cleaning gutters and trimming bushes. All supplies and materials will be provided by Dream Hunt and Fishing. While previous experience is appreciated, it is not required—just bring a willingness to help and make a difference in the community!

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by assisting with painting, cleaning and general carpentry as well as plumbing and electrical skills. While plumbing and electrical experience is required, the other general needs do not require experience-just bring a willingness to help and make a difference in the community! All supplies and materials will be provided by CRM.

On this Day of Caring, we are seeking volunteers to support this local nonprofit by painting and touching up a camp room. All supplies and materials will be provided by YMCA. While previous painting is appreciated, it is not required—just bring a willingness to help and make a difference in the community!

Help to create packets for our upcoming pledge drive

The Aquarium Projects Team consists of local volunteers that assist with various projects that do not require working with visitors. The nature of available projects will vary based on the needs of the aquarium and the skills of the volunteers that are a part of the Aquarium Projects Team. Projects include, but are not limited to sewing, education prop creation, language translation service, A/V projects, graphic design, 3D printing, fabrication, engineering, plumbing, carpentry and general maintenance tasks.

Projects will be assigned to Aquarium Projects Team volunteers based on those volunteers’ unique skillset and availability.

Join us for one of our public beach clean-ups!

We are seeking enthusiastic and engaging local volunteers that are wanting to be helpful by doing the following tasks:  safely operating a golf cart on Aquarium property to transport customers with mobility needs; directing traffic in the parking lots (main lots and the grass overflow lots) on busy days; assisting VS & Security staff in the ticket line directing customers to appropriate ticket windows; working the Guest Services desk in the main lobby to answer guest questions, sign out wheelchairs, and allow entry to the Privacy Room; Assisting guests with completing membership applications when possible; answering VS phones as needed. We're seeking local volunteers to help staff the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center in Rodanthe. Volunteers will greet and provide information about local refuges, walking trails, wildlife, programs and events, and answer guest's questions. Volunteers may work independently or be paired with another volunteer. Responsibilities include opening/closing the visitor center, answering phones, using a cash register for the visitor center gift shop, and providing educational content. Birding and other wildlife knowledge is a plus! Please reach out for further information.

Volunteer with Island Farm for our 15th annual Pumpkin Patch! This year’s Pumpkin Patch will feature plenty of pumpkins – grown locally in Chowan County by a descendant of Island Farm in Manteo, North Carolina.

Visitors will enjoy historic games, doll crafting, candle making, samples of apple cider and popcorn, giveaways from the blacksmith. Additional activities include a nail-driving contest, jumbo bubbles, and opportunities to feed livestock.

Pumpkin Patch is 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. — volunteer shifts are 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. or 11:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Pumpkin Patch dates are the first four Saturdays in October — Oct 3, 10, 17, and 24. Please indicate the date of your preference when signing up.

The Outer Banks Relief Foundation is excited to invite volunteers who enjoy being out in the community to help represent OBRF at local events throughout the year.

These opportunities might look like attending a concert, comedy show, resource fair, school event, or creative workshop. No two events are quite the same, and new opportunities pop up often.
